Agreement to Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Door Code ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these terms, you do not have permission to use the App.
Description of Service
Door Code is a mobile application that allows you to:
- Store and organize door codes and access credentials
- Associate codes with geographic locations
- Receive automatic notifications when arriving at saved locations
- Share codes securely with other users
- Access codes across multiple Apple devices via iCloud
Your Data and Responsibilities
You retain full ownership of all data you enter into Door Code, including locations, codes, notes, and any other information.
You are responsible for:
- The accuracy and legality of information you store
- Having the right to store and use any access codes you enter
- Maintaining appropriate backups of your data
- Keeping your device and Apple ID secure
- Any consequences of sharing codes with others
- Understanding that shared codes may be copied or further shared by recipients
Acceptable Use
You agree to use Door Code only for lawful purposes. Specifically, you will not:
- Store access codes you do not have legitimate rights to use
- Share codes without proper authorization from the code owner/provider
- Use the App to facilitate unauthorized access to any property
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the App
- Use the App in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
- Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality
Sharing Features
When you share locations or codes with others:
- You represent that you have the authority to share this information
- You understand that recipients may copy, screenshot, or further share codes
- Revoking access stops future updates but cannot undo past access
- You are responsible for vetting who you share with
- We cannot recover codes that have been shared and subsequently misused
Location Services
Door Code uses location services to provide its core functionality. By using the App, you acknowledge:
- Location monitoring is processed entirely on your device
- You must grant "Always Allow" location permission for automatic detection
- Location accuracy may vary based on GPS signal, device, and environment
- We are not responsible for missed notifications due to location inaccuracy
- You can disable location access at any time in system Settings
Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. Please review our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your data (spoiler: we don't collect any).
Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, code, features, and documentation, is owned by Door Code and protected by intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal purposes in accordance with these Terms.
Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE
- WARRANTIES THAT THE APP WILL ALWAYS FUNCTION CORRECTLY
- WARRANTIES THAT LOCATION DETECTION WILL ALWAYS TRIGGER
- WARRANTIES THAT NOTIFICATIONS WILL ALWAYS BE DELIVERED
- WARRANTIES THAT YOUR DATA WILL NEVER BE LOST
You acknowledge that no app can guarantee 100% reliability and you should have backup means to access your codes if needed.
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, DOOR CODE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:
- Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
- Loss of profits, data, use, or goodwill
- Inability to access property due to App malfunction
- Unauthorized access resulting from shared codes
- Any damages exceeding the amount you paid for the App
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Door Code from any claims, damages, or expenses (including attorney fees) arising from:
- Your use of the App
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
- Codes you share with others
Termination
You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your devices. We may terminate or suspend your access if you violate these Terms.
Upon termination:
- Your local data remains on your device until you delete the App
- Your iCloud data remains until you manually delete it
- Any shared access you've granted to others remains active until revoked
Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Apple App Store Terms
If you downloaded Door Code from the Apple App Store, you also acknowledge:
- These Terms are between you and Door Code, not Apple
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App
- Apple is not responsible for any claims relating to the App
- Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these Terms
- You must comply with Apple's App Store Terms of Service
Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in effect.
